Puspha Basnet, 28 year old girl from Nepal , has been nominated for the CNN hero award 2012. CNN every year nominates ten different people that are involved in some heroic work to change the community, after the nominations people around the world are made the judge and asked to vote visiting the website of “CNN Heroes “. This is the second time in the history of the CNN Heroes Nepali person is nominated, after the winner of the award Anuradha Koirala in the year 2010. CNN provided $50,000 after the nomination and will provide $250,000 to continue the work they have been doing.
Puspha Basnet, the student of Social Work was in the prison for her college work where she saw little kids residing inside the prison with their parents. The kids were inside the prison with no cause except that they didnt have any where else to go leaving their parents. Puspha raised some amount of money with her closed ones and started to help them since 2005 with , first the day care and later with the residence. She herself lives with the children behind the bar at the same residence and is responsible for all the care of them.
Starting 2005, Puspha Basnet started “ Early Childhood Development Center ” (ECDC) and started caring five children behind the bar and then increased it to residency by 2007. Her Project ” Butterfly Home” later was for the street kids and their help. She has been mother for more then hundred children since establishment of ECDC.
She has a cause, she has been helping the children they are in need behind and outside the Prison in Nepal, dedicating her life to the children in need. If she wins it will be help for the children with the future. Voting might take minimum of our time, surfing internet. So why not vote her for the Hero and bring a smile for a children in the street.
